Maddie is a physiotherapist who is passionate about supporting children to achieve their goals. She graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia in 2019 and was awarded the University Merit Award. Maddie began her career working with adults living with disabilities before finding her passion in the paediatric field.
Paediatric physiotherapists are movement experts for babies, children and adolescents. These therapists work with young people to help them to overcome movement difficulties and participate in everyday activities. Maddie believes that movement is vital to a child’s ability to be independent with everyday tasks. It allows them to navigate their own environment in order to learn and interact with others.
Maddie feels strongly about the importance of supporting a child as a whole – including their physical, emotional, and social development across infancy, childhood and adolescence. Being an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Maddie is passionate about using her own lived experience with disability to empower her clients and advocate for inclusion.
Maddie has extensive experience and knowledge working within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). She believes that it is important to support a child in their natural environment and frequently visits children in their homes, childcare centres, kindergartens and schools, as well utilising the clinic spaces at Prospect and Blackwood.
Maddie’s areas of interest are:
- Developmental Delays
- Supporting children with complex trauma backgrounds
- Neurological and neuromuscular conditions
