    I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer and have hit the ground running in 2018. At The Physio Clinic we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to develop some exciting initiatives for this year...

    We have recently purchased a new clinic in central Blackwood, which is very exciting! We now have a purpose built consulting and rehab space and our senior physio Natalie Bukojemski will be running supervised Pilates classes and offering hydrotherapy.

    Grange Road (opposite Findon Shopping Centre)

    Our resident physio Henry is planning some overseas travel in March so we are looking to expand our hydrotherapy and Pilates services here with physiotherapists Shannon Watchman and Matt Inglis who also consult at our Prospect Clinic.

    Prospect Road

    Our Prospect Clinic continues to grow with the addition of many new residents in newly built apartments, cafes and a brand new cinema to entertain the locals. We had a great response from the recent Tour Down Under street party ‘Touriffic Prospect’ with a full list of enquiries related to our physiotherapy services.

    In 2018 we are expanding our neurological physiotherapy services with Dr Michelle McDonnell, now available one full day per week and offering:

    • Treatment for falls and balance issues;
    • Dizziness and vertigo;
    • Stroke; and
    • Common neurological conditions.

    Burnside Hospital (Toorak Gardens)

    We are gaining increased interest from the general public and orthopaedic community around our Anti-Gravity treadmill and the benefits for lower limb rehabilitation and fitness. We are planning greater availability of this unique service to all patients this year.

    Our hospital practice continues to grow also with the addition of new surgeons, Dr Andrew Kurmis and Dr Mike Smith, and we look forward to working together with them this year. We are also in the process of creating improved educational materials and education sessions – pre and post operatively for our patients, to assist their understanding of common arthritic conditions, best practice management and outcomes.

    I have recently returned from a three week break with my family to the USA where I had the opportunity to visit the Titleist Performance Institute in Carlsbad California and was given a personalised tour of the facility by one of the sports chiropractors. This is an elite centre for golf with everything from club fitting to ball analysis to physical screening for golf and 3D swing analysis.

    Golf visit in California

    We are fortunate here in Adelaide to have similar facilities on our own backdoor at the Kooyonga Golf Club with their new performance centre and I look forward to working more with John Corbett and his team this year.

    My wife, Michelle, was an invited speaker to the International Stroke Conference at the convention centre in LA, presenting her research on exercise and stroke and we were lucky enough whilst in the hotel in downtown LA to be filmed as extras on the set of one of the upcoming NCIS episodes!

    We look forward to a great year at The Physio Clinc and meeting your health and wellness needs, please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries.
