    About Bec Manson

Bec graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia in 2002. She consults at Blackwood on Tuesday, Wednesdays, Fridays and alternate Saturdays providing hands-on treatment, dry needling, physio exercise classes and hydrotherapy classes. Bec has a special interest in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, headache treatment, and orthopaedic rehabilitation.

    Bec’s Story

Growing up, my nurse Mother always said I should “do something medical.” Apparently, I was always the first to be by the side of anyone sick or injured.

When I started playing rugby (while studying for my first degree – a Bachelor of Science), I found myself spending time in the medical area with the club trainer and physiotherapist. Finally, I found myself following my Mother’s advice from my younger days and I applied for physiotherapy…and then promptly left the country to go back-packing!

Being accepted into the Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia brought me home from my travels and back to playing rugby, learning lots from the club physio and trainer and gaining some personal experience of injuries and rehab along the way...

Upon graduating, I went straight into private practice and worked in multiple clinics. This presented an opportunity to work with the senior men’s and women’s state rugby teams, the under 16s and schoolboys junior state teams. More recently, I was lucky enough to work with the Adelaide Uni ROMA’s rugby 7s side, including having an Olympic Gold Medallist in the side (I even got to hold her medal)!

After having children and working on weekends, team sport became more difficult to fit into my schedule. So, I renewed my love of running, particularly on the amazing trails around Adelaide and have even completed a few races in the Blue Mountains.

There have been many changes in physiotherapy since I started practicing and I have particularly enjoyed the move towards education and exercise, empowering people to get the best out of their bodies and enjoy life more. I love watching people at all ages and stages of life achieve things they would never have thought possible with a bit of guidance in the right direction.
