I would just like to start off saying that I am extremely excited to be joining The Physio Clinic and I am looking forward to meeting you all in the coming months.
What do you need to know about me? I guess the biggest thing you should know is Physiotherapy is my PASSION! However, my journey to become a Physiotherapist was a long and windy road. Originally, after graduating from high school, I wanted to become a plumber...
After starting my apprenticeship I was quick to learn that it wasn’t for me, so I decided to hang up the plunger. It was a hard decision at the time, however it was one of the best decisions I have ever made as it allowed me to explore other career options.
Throughout my teenage years, I was heavily involved in going to the gym and living a healthy lifestyle. I was a typical GYM JUNKIE! One day the gym owner suggested that I study to become a Personal Trainer. I thought this was a great idea, so later on that day I went down to the Australian Institute of Fitness and signed up for my certificate 4 in fitness. After successfully completing the course I started my own Personal Training business franchised through my local gym. It was during my time whilst working as a Personal Trainer where I found my passion for helping others. I found nothing better than helping my clients achieve their personal goals.
At the same time whilst working as a Personal Trainer, I was also exposed to the world of Physiotherapy. On a typical day, I always had a client with some sort of musculoskeletal ache or pain and I felt like I was forever referring my clients down to the local physio. On a weekly basis, the local physio would call me and give me an update on all of my clients. For me, this phone call was the best time of the week and ultimately planted the seed for my passion to grow.
In 2013 I finally took the plunge and enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course at the University of South Australia. I knew after shortly starting the course that I picked the right career path.
After graduating in 2016 I moved into a private practice role where I was exposed to a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sporting conditions. During the week, when I wasn’t working, I was usually hitting the books and learning about new conditions and treatment techniques. I thoroughly enjoy treating all types of musculoskeletal conditions, however, I have a strong interest in treating the shoulder and neck.
Here are a five other things you may or may not know about me!
I'm a crazy AFL fan
I love going to the gym and living a healthy lifestyle
I am married, however, no kiddies yet!
My favourite radio station is FIVEAA (Yes I thoroughly enjoy listening to talk back radio)
My favourite television show is HOUSE
I hope that gives you a good overview of who I am and I hope to see you in the clinic soon.
